Auction System Basics and Advanced

Alot of what I will list here will be common knowledge and some may also be common sense but I feel I should make as thorough a post as possible and list everything I can think of.

Sylvan Heart uses a very personal auctioning system. This system involves players submitting items to be auctioned and then every week on Sunday at 4pm EST there is a live auction. Each item (or lot) is put on display one at a time and players say what they would like to bid on said item. The intention of this post is to list the rules and regulations for both the lot owners and lot purchasers.

The entire auction consists of 48 lots. There can however be less than 48 lots on any given Sunday. To place an item on auction to sell all you need to do is submit a help request (also refered to as a page) asking for an item (or items) to be placed for auction. We strongly encourage you to be at the auction house to make this process much smoother. When you submit a page please have the items handy and any reserve you would like on the items. A reserve is a minimum bid that you will accept, nothing lower. If you select a reserve of 10,000gp the auctioneer will start the auction at that price and will not accept anything lower.

If you win an item on the auction, which will be noted by the auctioneer stating "Sold!" after your bid is placed, then please step up to the auction table and either place a bank check or pile of gold equal to your bid on the table or in a secure trade with the auctioneer. Then take the item AFTER the auctioneer has your gold/check so that the auctioneer can verify you are the one taking the item. Then return to your seat. If you purchase a pet, stable it.

If your item sells at the auction the money will be held, in a bag labeled with the character name that submitted the item. Shortly after the auction money will tabulated and distributed to the players who had items up. If you are not around at that particular time do not worry, your money will be held until a member of staff sees that you are online, or until you page for your money. (Sometimes we don't notice when a particular player is on, so if after a few days you haven't recieved your money don't hesitate to page.) Sometimes you will see members of staff saying something to the effect of, "Is XPlayer, YPlayer, or ZPlayer on in any form?" This is just us checking to see if someone is around to recieve their money.

Lot Owners:

You are allowed to submit 5 items to auction.

If on Saturday, the day before the auction, it is not full and you have already submitted 5 items you may submit a couple more.

You are NOT permitted to bid up your own item or have friends do it merely to run up the price.

Auction Attendees:

During the auction we will not tolerate any hateful or negative remarks regarding the quality or price of an item in public chat. This includes the global channel ( [c ) and the normal say channel. If you have something negative to say TAKE IT TO PM.

Please refrain from continuous chatter during the auction. The auctioneer needs the journal to be as void of speech as possible to make note of every bid that is placed. After each lot has sold applauding, clapping, and or cheering is great. We don't say this for you not to talk what-so-ever it's just hard to keep track of all the multiple bids we recieve when there are other bits of text flooding the journal.

Do not leave animals next to the auction house, there are several stable stones there and many auction attendees carry these as well. Stable your pets.

Alot of players know that we as staff have use of a system that allows us to hear or (technically) see all of the spoken speech in game. If we are within range we will also see party chat, so please during the auction keep your party chat to a minimum.

If you plan to bid on a pet at the auction please make sure that you have both the appropriate skill needed and stable space to store the pet as soon as the trade is made. If you are within a few points of being able to accept the animal we will hold it for a short while until you can take it.

Do not cast any spells during the auction, if theres a container with items in it go up to the table and look. Spells such as recall, sacred journey etc etc are fine.

Finally, please remember that we ARE a family shard. Be courteous or at least civil with each other. These rules and regulations are a guideline. If it's something you know you shouldn't be doing or saying then don't do or say it.
